UNIV South Beach Miami Grand Opening June 7 2007
UNIV is pleased to announce the opening of their second location, The UNIV Select Shop in South Beach, Miami, Florida on Thursday June 7, 2007. The UNIV Select Shop is located at 100 Collins Avenue #2,3 in South Beach, at First Avenue, between Washington and Collins.
“UNIV is excited about the opportunity to be in South Beach” said Mirko Mangum, co-owner of UNIV. “With our Encinitas, CA location and now South Beach, we will continue to offer a cultural alternative to the traditional retail experience by focusing on emerging brands, hard-to-find items and other assorted curiosities from around the world.”
The UNIV Select Shop features UNIV apparel and other key brands, from footwear, apparel and accessories, for men and women. The UNIV Select Shop interior is an eclectic tribute to old Florida, a time gone by, with additional curiosities thrown in. The shop is a collective between UNIV partners Mirko Mangum and Tim Swart, longtime Miami resident Mark Gamez and
entertainer Sal Masekela.
The UNIV Select Shop Grand Opening is set to be quite the event. The opening will be attended by VIPs ranging from streetwear industry personalities to a few surprise celebrities. DJ Iron Mike is scheduled to perform. The official after party will be held at Love/Hate, the new club from Miami Ink. The event is being supported by Russian Standard Vodka.
UNIV has been involved in many key projects in 2007, ranging from events to cultural affiliations, these include: the UNIV Brave Art Show, the UNIV + Pepsi + Eneri Abelasol bicycle, a skateboard deck collaboration with art legend HAZE, sponsorship of the Phoenix Am skateboarding event and more to come in the near future.
